Offered for sale is an authentic 2005 Mercedes-Benz G270 IFAV, a military-only configuration G-Class built on the heavy-duty W461 platform and never available to the civilian market in this form. These trucks were engineered for military use, not modified after the fact, and that difference is immediately apparent in the way this vehicle drives, feels, and holds together. This is not a soft-top conversion or surplus rebuild — this is a factory-built IFAV, designed from the start to be used hard while remaining tight, predictable, and durable.
Power comes from the OM612 inline-5 turbodiesel paired with the 5-speed electronic automatic transmission, a combination known for longevity, torque, and excellent drivability. The truck is equipped with the correct heavy-duty 461 front and rear axles, along with front and rear sway bars, giving it a noticeably more planted and confidence-inspiring feel than most soft-top or military G variants. Despite the utilitarian appearance, this example drives exceptionally well — smooth, tight, responsive, and far from fatiguing behind the wheel. Braking is strong, throttle response is immediate, and the engine pulls with plenty of power for both road use and off-road work.
This IFAV has just received a full round of service, including replacement of all fluids, belts, and filters, along with new brake lines. A pre-buy inspection has already been completed, and the truck needs nothing. It is ready to drive, collect, or build.
The truck is fitted with OEM Hutchinson beadlock wheels and a brand-new soft top. It also comes with brand-new plaid front seats and a rear bench, which can be installed upon request. They are currently left out, as most buyers prefer to customize the interior to their own taste.
Vehicles like this are exceptionally scarce, especially in this condition. Factory IFAVs rarely come to market, and clean, properly serviced examples are becoming harder to find every year. This is the type of truck that belongs in a serious collection, but it also makes an outstanding platform for a GOAT Mod or any other suspension or expedition build thanks to the correct axles, factory engineering, and military-grade chassis.
No one knows how long another one like this will be available, but opportunities to buy a true IFAV in collector-grade condition do not come around often.
